4 Great Ways to Help Your Child’s School

Paying it forward is a theme that more and more of us are becoming aware of. It is actually more than just a theme. It is truly a lifestyle. Maybe your last coffee was purchased for you, so you left a little extra to cover the next customer’s coffee. Perhaps someone paid for your food in the drive through lane, or even helped you get an item from the top shelf at the grocery store. As a society, we need to get out of the habit of doing things for recognition. We need to do the right thing, because it’s the right thing to do. Many of us may have forgotten about our children’s schools during the summer months, but now that summer is about over, it’s time to refocus our energy and our time commitments to causes that matter. Personally, I have always felt as though I can be the most impactful on a local level. It isn’t difficult or time consuming to help your child’s school, and schools are desperate for the help!

4 Ways to Help Your Child’s School:

1. Become a coach or a mentor: There are so many children out there without solid family structures. These children need positive role models and positive adult figures in their lives. Take some time out of your week to make a difference and coach a sport or mentor a child who is having a particularly rough time transitioning between grades.
2. Volunteer: The office staff will greatly appreciate any sort of assistance you might be able to provide. Whether you are answering phones, working a check in table or beautifying bulletin boards. Your help will not go unnoticed!
3. Join the PTA: Be another voice from the community and connect with the school and other members. Your voice matters and you may have great ideas that haven’t yet been thought of or developed.
4. Collect Project A+ Points: These points are a huge resource for schools, and they couldn’t be any easier to accumulate!

The Tyson Project A+™ program is one of the simplest ways to help your child’s school. Just clip and collect Tyson Project A+™ labels from Tyson® participating packages. For every label submitted, Tyson will give the school cash and the school can use the money for whatever it needs. In fact, Tyson will give 24 cents per label! The labels are available on over 30 different Tyson products, so they are easy to collect.

My nephew will be entering his first year of Kindergarten at a local elementary school called Rayma C. Page Elementary School. Tyson and Walmart have teamed up in order to collect nominations for the Tyson Project A+™ Support Your School Contest. The top 5 schools each will win $1,000 in Tyson Project A+™ labels! $1,000 is a great start for our local elementary school in order for them to upgrade their computer systems and maybe even add some new slides to the playground! Head over to Walmart’s contest site and nominate your school to win a head start on collecting their Tyson Project A+™ labels!
