A Book For Mothers
Ever since becoming a mother 4 years ago, I have cherished the times when I find a book for mothers. Most books are the typical “how-to” kind, trying to tell you how you should deal with situations that arise. I admit I have read most of them, I want to be informed and prepared for what may come. Problem is, you never know what’s coming or how to deal with it until it happens. Cookies for Dinner by Pam Johnson-Bennett and Kae Allen is a real book that deals with real things that have happened in the their lives from a poop filled car seat to a new use for puppy pads. This book takes you on a ride that you will never forget, I laughed, cried and cringed all the while thinking I’m so glad that wasn’t me. But we all know some crazy things will happen to us, we are mother’s that’s what we signed up for…we are wipers of tears, poop and puke, we are the keepers blankets, dolls and a favorite cup and we are the makers of memories that will last a lifetime. I embrace the good with the bad, try to laugh at the craziness and remember that these little moments, they won’t last forever and one day I will be wishing to go back in time.
Bad Mommy Moments
Pam and Kae give you an in depth look at what really happens in homes all over the world. Most people would be embarrassed or ashamed to admit they happened to them but not these ladies, they dealt with it and aren’t afraid to talk about it. I have what I call bad mommy moments and I think to myself should I tell anyone this? It’s nice to know that I am not the only one having these moments and this book inspires me. I am the best mother I can be, I am not perfect and that’s okay because my kids and husband love me for who I am.
Cookies For Dinner
The title of the book drew me in and had me hooked. I was dying to read about the Cookies For Dinner story, it wasn’t what I had expected but it was a Mom doing what she had to do to get the job done. I always say to my daughter, you can’t have junk for dinner etc. One morning when my husband let me sleep in, I woke to find out he fed her cookies for breakfast (yes, actual cookies)! She said “Mommy I had cookies for breakfast, Daddy gave them to me even though I shouldn’t have eaten them, I did!” So when I saw the title, I smiled thinking about that day! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it every chance I got until it was finished. I had to have more and Pam and Kae didn’t disappoint me one bit. You can purchase this book for $16.00.
