It's funny how sometimes the hardest part of life is breaking out of the menial. It's easy to get caught up in the day to day of life, just striding through until those big moments: family vacations, births, weddings, anniversaries and other important events throughout each year.
The birth of our daughter came a little earlier in our timeline than we had planned and because of that our life went on the fast track. Before we knew it we were parents of a toddler with two dogs, two cars, a home and all of the financial responsibilities that entails. It's easy to find myself getting buried in mountains of bills, preschool applications, appointments, deadlines, school work, dinner and dishes. It can feel like the only thing standing in the way of a happy life is life its self. Sometimes we just need to take a step back and appreciate these moments. It's that moment in the evening when my daughter is working on an art project at the dining room table so that my husband and I share a few moments cooking together and catching up throughout the day. It's sitting out watching the sunset over the lake behind our house and the way the lilac bushes bloom in the spring making our lake house look as though it were plucked from the pages of a fairy tale. It's important to realize that it's these trials and triumphs, these small moments that create a life.
