I would like to introduce to you all: April, from My Fitness World, my new Beach Body Coach. April has been kind enough to coach me and keep my spirits up and head in task while going on my weight loss journey. I did a little Q and A with her to help you get to know her better. It is a neat story!
Tell me a little about yourself and family. My name is April and I am a SAHM to 4 beautiful girls. I’m also a fitness instructor and a Army Wife. I love to dance ( that’s why I teach Zumba) and spend time with my family. I love to blog and do reviews on health products. How did you get into fitness? 2 years ago I had a misscharge and lost my twins. Yes….Twins!!!! That would have made 6 kids! YIKES!!!! Well after losing them I needed to lose a lot of weight so I joined the YMCA up the street and tryed a Zumba class. I fill in love. The only thing was, they offered the class just 2 times a week. I wanted more. So Oct. 2009 I got certified to teach Zumba. It was a surprise to me… I looked on online on how to get trained to teach and saw the training in Appleton WI and signed-up. When I signed up I had NEVER taught a class before and I was over weight. I told my husband what I had did and he told me, that if I passed I had to teach to make back the money I spent on the training. To drive to Appleton WI, it was going to be an 8 hour drive. So gas and hotel had to be paid back too. I showed up for class and felt so out of place. I was the only one who had never taught and was over weight. I didn’t even have the cool workout cloth…. Well I passed and drive back home to MN. The next day I saw that a Fitness Studio had opened up down the street from me, so I went in and asked if they needed a Zumba instructor…. The lady said, “YES can you teach?” So I was hired!!! Now I had to learn a routine and teach in front of people. I was so scared…. 4 months later I got certified in Group Fitness and now I teach 20 fitness classes a week and 17 of them are Zumba. I went from 190 lb to 145 lb. I love my job and I love fitness and how it makes me feel. Zumba changed my life. I went from a SAHM that never got out and hated to be in front of people because of my weight, to teaching in front of hundreds of people and putting myself out to the world. I had made some great friendships and I have an awesome support system here. I have helped change so mean life’s. I have ladies coming up to me everyday telling me how I helped them fit into a pair of jeans that they haven’t been able to wear in 4 years or fit into a dress or etc….. I love to see people have that moment, like I did. That is way I teach and how I got into fitness! How long have you been doing it? I have been teaching for 2 years. Any cool stories to tell? I had a lady tell me that I helped her fit into a pair of jeans that she could not wear for 4 years. Another lady tell me that she wore a dress to her daugthers wedding without shapewear underwear. All my stories are about how I helped people change their life’s through fitness. What is your go to motivation phrase? Find something you love to do and have fun!!! And Let’s make fitness a Party!!!
