Recently I was given the opportunity of a lifetime when I was asked to attend a press day for the new movie Blended starring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. For many years I have loved the movies that have come from Happy Madison, but had always felt a special love for the chemistry between these actors that made The Wedding Singer and Fifty First Dates a few of my favorite ( watch 50 times or more and not get bored) movies. We started the day with a special screening of the movie Blended at the TCL theater in Hollywood and what better way to dress for the day then in my fantastic Karina dress.
“After a disastrous blind date, single parents Lauren and Jim agree on only one thing: they never want to see each other again. But when they each sign up separately for a fabulous family vacation with their kids, they’re all stuck sharing a suite at a luxurious African safari resort for a week”
The Movie was everything that I have come to love from this dynamic duo adding just the right amount of heart to the perfect amount of comedy that both older children and adults will enjoy. I left the theater smiling and wanting to see it again, when the reality that I was about to meet and interview some of the cast from the movie set in and all I could think of was telling them how much I had enjoyed the film. When we walked into the beautiful room at the Lowes Hollywood that we would be conducting our interviews in immediately I noticed that there were stations set up for us to get our hair braided by the talented stylists and make up provided by Flower Beauty (Drew Barrymore’s stunning makeup line)!
I chose to have my hair done and told the awesome stylist to just have some fun, the results were fantastic!!
All dolled up and ready to go we all waited for Adam Sandler, Drew Barrymore, and Wendi McLendon-Covey to come in for our interviews. Suddenly the moment we had been waiting for had arrived when Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler walked through the door.
Instantly excited to see “Mommies!” Drew walked in and Adam instantly asked her if she had wanted a drink. As the interview began you could immediately tell that the chemistry that these two have on screen was something that was true off screen as well.
I loved hearing about how they started working together with Drew telling us of how it all started saying “When we first met I called him, because I know that we’re supposed to partner up. I just know it in my heart. And I stalked him until he accepted the ways.” They continued to tell us what working in Africa was like telling us stories of Monkeys ransacking rooms! When they were finished both were more than happy to take selfies and group pictures with us.
Soon we were joined by the insanely funny Wendi McLendon-Covey who plays Jen, Drew Barrymores best friend in Blended. She instantly filled the room with laughter as she told us about both her role as Jen and as Beverly Goldberg on The Goldbergs.
“I love being the snarky best friend who always has something weird to say. We’ve all been put in a position where you have to sit and make conversation with someone’s idiot boyfriend, or awkward date.”
I loved Blended and meeting these amazing people who helped make it the fun, family movie that it is made it even more special! If you haven’t seen Blended yet, you simply MUST!!!
