Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Buttermilk Cookies

I love the tang of the buttermilk added to the spices.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ¾ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground allspice
- ⅔ cup buttermilk
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Grease cookie sheets.
- Cream butter and brown sugar.
- Beat in the egg.
- Combine the flour, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice.
- Add the buttermilk to the sugar mix.
- Mix in the oats and chocolate chips.
- Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet.
- Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
These are slightly cakey.

I have never used buttermilk in cookies but these look great! I bet it makes them awesome. The kids are both home this week and this looks like a perfect recipe for us to try out together:-)

I love this recipe. I was actually just complaining that I bought some chocolate chip cookies and the ratio of chocolate chunks was too high, so my husband told me that I need to make my own. 😉
