Who is the gift chooser/shopper/giver person in your family? Do your kids or partner participate in any of the planning or shopping for gifts? In my family, I am the main go to person when it comes to gift giving because I am one of those people who loves to buy gifts. I start my Christmas shopping in July and I have birthday gifts bought and wrapped months before! I think choosing the perfect gift can be quite easy if you know how to do it. I want my kids and husband to be able to make the people they buy for happy with the gift they received. Here are a few of my best gift giving strategies:
3 Tips To Help You Choose The Perfect Gift
- Do Not Play It Safe: If you are going to buy the ho-hum flowers, candy or a bottle of wine, studies show if you buy something the recipient would buy for themselves, they will be hugely disappointed. Take a risk and buy something you know this person would not normally get for themselves like a massage, personalized jewelry or a framed photo.
- Know The Person You Are Buying For: Before you start shopping, find out what your recipient likes, what their interests are, favorite color, size, flower, hobby or other pertinent information.
- Make It Meaningful: Nothing says “I did not put forth much effort into this gift” like a gift card, a wilted rose from the supermarket or some smelly perfume. Put some thought into what you are giving and do some research. Go online and find unique gifts which would be something the person you are buying for has never seen. That is what I did when I was looking for a special gift for my daughter and found Dune Jewelry. This one of a kind designer jewelry from the talented Holly Christensen is sure to be a hit!
I found Dune Jewelry last year when I was looking for something different for my daughter’s Christmas gift. I found the coolest necklace and bracelet which I highlighted in my review, “Top Five Jewelry Gifts For Women Who Have Everything.” Holly got the idea for Dune Jewelry from the time she spent on the Cape and her fond memories of that period. She realized virtually everyone has a special memory of going to the beach and wanted to find a way to capture that. Soon, she and a childhood friend were making beach sand jewelry and Dune Jewelry was born! I was engaged on Tybee Island, so choosing a necklace for Chelsea with sand from the beaches of Tybee Island was a very special and meaningful gift for her. For Caitlin’s 16th birthday this year, I wanted to buy her something she would always remember and immediately thought of Dune Jewelry.
I chose the Sandrop Necklace for Caitlin and it is filled with sand from Panama City Beach, FL. Caitlin had never been to the beach or seen the ocean before she went to Panama City on a church beach trip a few years ago. This is where Caitlin found her faith and I felt this necklace would be a constant reminder of that special trip. The necklace sells for $60 on the Dune Jewelry website and can be filled with the sand from just about any beach you can think of. You can also find earrings, bracelets, and rings for women, and cuff links, rings and tie bars for men and more. If you are interesting in choosing the perfect gift for mom on Mother’s Day, Dune Jewelry is an excellent and quite thoughtful place to shop. Be sure to stay current with the latest news from Dune Jewelry by following them on Twitter. One USA reader will win a Sandrop necklace with the sand of their choice ARV $60 at the Makobi Scribe Mother’s Day Gift ideas event!
