Dare To Try Peacock Eyes How To Create This Season’s Hottest Trend

We’re finding  this mysterious creatures mesmerizing colors of teal, gold and plum everywhere in interior design, fashion, and beauty. To incorporate this trend into your Holiday look, choose your hues carefully, this isn’t your mothers 1950’s powder blue! Look for the deepest colors, like L’Oreal’s High Intensity Pigments in “Showy” and “Flamboyant”. These eye shadow duos provide excellent coverage and sheen without being too glittery. When going for a high impact eye, be sure to keep the rest of your face as neutral as possible. We used just a touch of color to our model’s lips as we wanted her eyes to be the “Belle” of the ball:

How to create this look: Apply a neutral and flattering foundation to your entire face. Blending is key here, make sure to apply sparingly and build from there. To cover Blemishes or redness, dot on a tiny amount of concealer and tap gently with your ring finger. A little goes a long way! With our model Brittany we decided to go with a cat eye vs. a smoky eye. The gorgeous teal we chose is intense and we wanted it to be reminiscent of a peacocks plume. We began by applying a luscious gold over the entire lid. Then we applied teal across her top lash line, bringing it up and out at a slight angle to contour her eye:

We completed the look with a deep plum liner, across her upper lash line and to the corner of her lower lash line. We blended this out with a touch of teal shadow as well, to give her extra sparkle. We finished the look with Maybelline Great Lash mascara in “Blackest Black” to accentuate her gorgeous lashes.

1. Always think blend, blend, blend when applying foundations and shadows, it’s easy to overdo it! Start out with a little and build up to your desired intensity.
2. Apply loose powder under your eye before using brighter shades, this catches any shadow that may fall during application, when you have completed your shadow, gently remove any excess with a light sweep of a powder brush.
3. When using high intensity color on the eye, go neutral on the lip. This keeps the look fresh and professional.
