Check out my BlogHer ’11 Experience with De Wafelbakkers new Pancake Hoarders premiere.
De Wafelbakkers is a down-home-cooking-tasting , easy-to-prepare, flavorful and super kid-friendly pancake. They come in a clear plastic bag, so you can see exactly what you are getting; and what you are getting is a uniquely shaped pancake just like you make at home. Each one has its own ridges and looked like it was made in your kitchen (The family will never know!) De Wafelbakkers comes in a variety of flavors, a few of which I had the opportunity to try out and share with my three boys.
- All-Natural A+ Cinnamon Whole Grain Spelt Sweet Potato Pancake – This one is my personal favorite. It is loaded with beta carotene and vitamin A so it provides extra nutrition while providing great taste. It reminds me of the holidays and sweet potato casserole. I feel like I am having dessert for breakfast. I do not even use syrup on this pancake.
- Blueberry Pancakes “Just like Grandma’s Pancakes” – These are my kids favorite, and their ages range from 18 months to 18 years! I prepare these straight from the freezer to the toaster to provide a quick, crispy pancake for my oldest and I microwave for 30 seconds for a soft, easy to chew for my youngest. Again, these are so good no syrup required! As my friend, Yolanda, says, “They should be named, Mmmmberry”.
- Flaxseed Buckwheat Berry Pancakes – These flavorful pancakes are jam packed with omega-3 ALA (1000 mg/serving) from flaxseed which supports overall health. These have a very unique flavor that makes GREAT peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The kids think they are getting a treat at lunch when I am really providing nutrition!
- Maple Pancakes – These are your basic pancake with the good ol’ maple flavor. If you are a conservative, traditional pancake eater, these are right up your alley. When they are microwaved, they do not have that rubbery taste some brands do. They are fluffy and light and these make good egg and cheese sandwiches. For a treat for my husband, I put Canadian bacon or strip bacon, a slice of cheese and a fried egg for my version of a drive-through breakfast sandwich. I think my version tastes way better!
