I love it when I find a series I cannot put down. I love it even more when I get a chance to interview the author! Here is mine with Heather Frost:
When did you know you wanted to become a writer?
It’s something I sort of grew into. I developed a love of books very early on in life, and I wrote my first novel when I was twelve. I guess you could say becoming an author was a daydream of mine, an ambitious wish, until I was eighteen and got my first rejection letter. After that, I decided publication could become a reality, if I kept at it long enough. A couple years later, sheer determination paid off.
How long did it take you to write the Seers trilogy?
I wrote the first drafts of the Seers Trilogy during the summer of 2010. It was a little insane—all I did for weeks was write.
Who is your favorite character in the Seers trilogy and why?
That’s like picking a favorite child, or an all-time favorite book, or movie; totally impossible for me! At the moment, I’m feeling partial towards Grandpa Bennett. He might be a more minor character, but he still manages to carry a lot of weight in the story—a lot of the heart, really, which is one of the reasons I think my book sticks out in the vast YA genre. Because he’s not the typical adult figure that annoyingly and typically gets in the way of the main plot. On the contrary, he contributes to the plot. Many readers have told me that Henry Bennett is the coolest adult figure they’ve ever read in YA, which I feel is a humbling honor. In any case, thinking about him always brings a smile to my face.
Do you have any new book ideas you are currently working on?
Quite a few, actually, and all in different stages. Now that I’m nearing graduation, I’ve got to settle on which project I really want to tackle!
What is your favorite food?
Pizza. Tacos. Ice Cream. Brownies. Have I mentioned I’m a fan of food?
What do you have on your feet right now?
Fuzzy mint green socks.
