Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Buttermilk Cookies

I love the tang of the buttermilk added to the spices.
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground allspice
  • ⅔ cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease cookie sheets.
  3. Cream butter and brown sugar.
  4. Beat in the egg.
  5. Combine the flour, baking soda, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice.
  6. Add the buttermilk to the sugar mix.
  7. Mix in the oats and chocolate chips.
  8. Drop by rounded spoonfuls onto the prepared cookie sheet.
  9. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
These are slightly cakey.
