This is a guest post. There are a number of reasons why America’s most southern continental state is a magnet for holidaymakers. Sunshine almost all the year round, beaches, national parks and yes, theme parks, all combine to make Florida simply irresistible to sun worshippers. The state caters for families as well and Florida holidays offer enough family-oriented activities to easily fill a week or two. Whether you’re a beach-loving family or more the adventurous type, options in this state are anything but a rare commodity.
Research your location
If you’ve never been to Florida then make sure you do some research and choose a location based on activities you’d like to try. For instance, vacationing in Orlando means you’ll be close to the theme parks but also means you can hit the beaches on the east and west coast. Heading further south to locations such as Miami places you just 30 minutes by car from the Everglades as well as in an ideal spot to explore the Florida Keys and the attractions of Miami itself. You’re never too far from a beach or national park in Florida but take the time to research your vacation activity choices before you book.
Go on Adventures in the Park
Children love the great outdoors and Everglades National Park is one of the world’s most amazing parks. This World Heritage Site stretches over two million acres and is the place to see endangered wildlife such as the American crocodile, the Florida panther and of course the manatees. Boat tours are one of the best ways to traverse this region. Canoes are also available for families who wish to explore the winding waterways at their leisure (and are brave enough!).
Miami is an exhilarating, cultural city with activities galore to keep the kids amused throughout the vacation. Miami offers the amazing Miami Children’s Museum featuring hundreds of interactive exhibits as well as the famous Science Museum where children can explore the universe via 140 interactive exhibits. Outdoor adventure can be had at Sea Grass Adventures, which is a nature tour through the beaches and waters of Key Biscayne. Jungle Island is one of the most popular Miami children’s attractions featuring wildlife such as orangutans, kangaroos, tigers, lions, iguanas and the famous parrot show.
After a few days of sightseeing and all these activities you can drive to one of the hundreds of Florida beaches and simply relax on the sands or take a dip in the warm ocean waters. Bliss!
