If you love the outdoors and have an adventurous and a little bit of a wild side, the Florida Eco-Safaris at Forever Florida are right up your alley!  This eco-ranch and natural wildlife conservation cover an impressive 4,700 acres and is the perfect place for you and your family to explore the Florida wilderness and wetlands as well as the thick cypress forests.  The lazy and winding natural streams are just beautiful and I must admit I wanted to jump in and splash around for a while!  You have several ways that you can enjoy Forever Florida so you can rest assured there really is something for every age. Jeana and I had a blast! You can see us all decked out in our gear below!

Forever Florida

If you want to take your time and have a relaxing tour of the property, you can take the 2 hour coach ride.  This coach is really cool because you travel on land and water in an open air coach that rides 5 feet off the ground. As you travel into the preserve, you can see creatures that represent the 9 different eco systems including alligators, bears, deer, more than 100 species of birds as well as the endangered and beautiful Florida panther.  Each coach is manned by an experienced guide who narrates the ride that gives you a ton of information not just on the surroundings but of the rich history of the area as well.  I liked that I was able to enjoy the beauty while learning about Florida at the same time.  One really neat part of the tour is Bull Creek which is a blackwater stream that you can actually drink out of.  Once the ride ends, you can visit the souvenir shop or eat a delicious meal at the Cypress Restaurant.

For equestrians age 12 and up, you are taken on a guided tour of the expanse of Forever Florida via a 1.5 hour horseback ride.  You will ride your horse on trails that were first used by the early Native Americans.  One fun part of the tour is that you will ride your horse through the same Bull Creek water you ride through on the coach tour. Like the coach tour, your experienced guide will point out tons of wildlife as well as facts about the area.  If you like, you can sign up for a 2 or 3 day/overnight adventure. This is Kas getting ready to jump from the Panther Pounce Platform.

My favorite of the offerings was the Zipline Safari, which is the largest in Florida.  You will travel via a series of cables that will take you on a treetop tour reaching 68 feet above the ground of Forever Florida that is unlike anything you have ever seen.  Once the coach takes you into the conservation, you will put on your zipline gear and your guide will take you on the ride of your life at speeds up to 30 MPH!  This is the platform you start at.

The tour will take you to several platforms built throughout the acreage that offers a view that give you a 10 mile panoramic view. You will love the view from the sky bridges as well as the photos of your experience that are taken by the staff.  For the big adventurer in the group, night rides are also offered to heighten your experience at Forever Florida.

If you aren’t sure if you are a coach person or a zipline person, Forever Florida has a great compromise for you in their Cypress Canopy Cycle tour!  This adventure is the first of its kind in the USA.  You will ride in a custom build cycle that allows you to pedal at 25 feet above ground through the treetops on suspended steel cables for a one hour tour. You will take a leisurely ride above the gorgeous Florida wetlands where you will see many of the wildlife you can see from the coach or horseback tours.  What you can’t see from those tours are the treasures hidden up in the trees like the woodpecker or a wise old owl!  While on the tour, you will “meet” George, the 13 foot gator who has been a resident of the Forever Florida family for more than 60 years!

I had a blast soaring over Forever Florida on the Eco-Safari zipline.  The knowledgeable staff and beautiful surroundings made for a day I will always remember.
