Fried Corn Fritters Recipe

One of my favorite dishes from my childhood was Corn Fritters. My mom used to make these for dinner on special occasions.  My sister and I would get so excited because we got to help mix the batter AND pick whether if we wanted syrup or powdered sugar. The ingredients are super simple and are usually in your pantry at home.

Fried Corn Fritters Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1-3/4 c flour
  • 2 t baing powder
  • ¾ t salt
  • ¾ c milk
  • 1 can of whole kernel corn
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 T melted shortening
Instructions
  1. Measure and sift the dry ingredients together
  2. Combine the liquid ingredients and add to the dry ingredients.
  3. Drop by the spoonfull into hot oil
  4. Fry two minutes on each side or until golden brown

  1. Those look awesome! I’m a majorly picky eater, and corn was the only vegetable I would eat for most of my life. I have expanded a bit, but it’s still my favorite.

  2. I don’t think I’ve ever tasted corn fritters, but I’ve had corn bread and other fried fritters. So I imagine these would taste amazing.
    I agree with you on canned foods. I buy my sons cabbage and collard greens in the can because they taste great and won’t go bad!
