When my family and I headed down to Naples this summer we stayed at the Naples Inn on Fifth at night; but during the day, we went to the Naples Zoo. It used to be Jungle Larrys way back when I was a kid, so it was really neat to see how it had grown. The first thing that caught my kids eyes when we arrived were the poisonous dart frogs in the terrariums in the lobby. We could have stayed there all day, but then we would have missed so much! Above is the first animal we met inside. He’s a sloth, adn this lucky fella gets to hang around all day! They had a little show and brought out a ton of animals before we walked around the whole zoo.
We sat right in the front row and were able to encounter all the species up close! My kids were in total awe because they were close enough to reach right out and touch them. Mason loves butterflies so we had to stop along the trails several times to check them out. The flowers were beautiful so I kept getting side tracked with taking pictures.
The signs were pretty funny too!
They had alligator feedings – too close for my comfort!
A lot of the animals were sleeping nestled away in their dens by the hot afternoon, but they were still visible.

This dog was brought in to raise these wolf pups.
In 2011, these coyotes were discovered motherless at a closed historic hotel in Florida. That summer, Naples Zoo was selected as the home for the orphan coyotes. Upon the pups’ arrival, Naples Zoo staff adopted a Plott hound from the humane society in Naples. The hound taught the wolves social skills and is a prominent member of the pack.
We had such a great day at the zoo. On our way out, they gave us fish food to stop and feed the fish on the bridge. There are not many places you can pick which fish you want to feed! I cannot wait to return with my family.
