In the United States, we celebrate Groundhog Day on February 2. Groundhog Day is based on the legend that says that the Groundhog comes out of his hole on February 2 after a long winter sleep to look for his shadow. If he sees his shadow on that day, he takes it as a bad sign and returns to his hole for six more weeks of winter weather.  If the day is cloudy when he comes out of his hole, he won’t see his shadow.  If that happens, he takes it as a sign that spring is here and stays above the ground instead. Here are a few funny Groundhog Day quotes for you to enjoy.

The groundhog is like most other prophets; it delivers its prediction and then disappears. ~ Bill Vaughn

See the little groundhog, furry and brown. See the little groundhog, look all around. If he sees his shadow, down he goes. There’s more winter, Little Groundhog knows. ~ Unknown Author
