It is hard to believe the Barbie® doll was invented more than 50 years ago. She was created in 1959 by Ruth Handler, who was also the co-founder of Mattel. Ruth’s daughter was called Barbara and Barbie® made her appearance at the American Toy Fair in New York City. Barbie’s friend, the Ken doll, who was named after Ruth’s son, was introduced two years after Barbie in 1961. Barbie’s full name was Barbie Millicent Roberts, was from Willows, Wisconsin and her job was a teenage fashion model. Barbie® came either as a brunette or blond, but in 1961, a red haired version was added. Almost 20 years later, the first African American Barbie® and Hispanic Barbie were introduced. Barbie has been through a lot of changes and careers and her latest adventure is about her sisters and a pony. This new story chronicles Barbie® and her sisters , Stacie®, Skipper® and Chelsea®,  as they set off on an equestrian adventure. The girls travel to a posh horse academy in the majestic Swiss Alpine. Barbie® meets a wild horse there and the two form an instant connection. This opens the door for Barbie® to train the beautiful creature. Through the power of family and friendship, the sisters form everlasting bonds with each other, and create sweet memories with their ponies at the academy.

  117. The link was broken for me, so I looked at all of the Barbie products. My daughter is five so she’d love the Dream House or the R.V. camper. She’s also obsessed with the Barbie bike that her grandparents have at their house, so I’m sure she’d love the Barbie Sisters’ Bike for Two as well!
