gleegumI received an assortment of Glee Gum flavors to review. When the package arrived, I was happier than a kid in a candy store! I love gum and chew it daily. I’ve never tried Glee Gum and I couldn’t wait to sample it.  After opening the package full of over six different flavors of glee gum (cinnamon, peppermint, tangerine, bubblegum, spearmint, and triple berry), I sat down and opened every single pack and decided I’d have my own “taste test” challenge to see which one would be my favorite.  With each new flavor I tried, I found another I liked. I started with cinnamon flavor as my favorite (my usual favorite), but by the end of my Glee Gum taste test challenge, I think my favorite Glee Gum is the sugar-free Lemon Lime. It tastes like candy. I’d probably chew the Lemon Lime instead of eating candy when my sugar cravings are on overdrive. Glee Gum is full of flavor without all of the extra calories I’d get from grabbing a pack of my favorite candies.
Glee Gum is vegetarian and made of natural ingredients free of additives, preservatives, artificial colors, flavors, and sweeteners. Sounds like the healthiest kind of gum available. The best part is that Glee Gum is also allergy friendly for those of us looking for a sweet treat that is Lactose Free, Dairy Free, Wheat Free, Gluten Free, Casein Free, Egg Free, Yeast Free, Nut Free, and Peanut Free and still tastes GOOD.  Glee Gum is sweetened with pure cane sugar, and rice syrup, instead of corn syrup. Glee Gum’s sugar-free flavors are sweetened with zylitol (not aspartame or any other artificial sweeteners). Glee Gum’s texture is different than other gums I chew.  It’s more chewy and doesn’t dissolve away like some other gums I’ve tried. This unique texture comes from Glee Gum’s natural ingredient: chicle. Chicle is used as the gum base and is harvested from the sap of  Sapodilla trees in Central America’s rain forests. Chicle was the original ingredient in all chewing gums until synthetic gum bases were developed. Now Glee Gum is the only gum in North America made the old-fashioned way, with chicle. I had no idea that most other gums use synthetic ingredients instead of natural ingredients like chicle.  Glee Gum uses chicle because it is natural and an eco-friendly way to help conserve the rain forest. The Chicle harvesting process is both renewable and non-destructive. Glee Gum is committed to being a “green” company; even the packaging is made of recycled cardboard.I’ve learned a lot about how gum is made and the ingredients by reading Glee Gum’s website. I also discovered that Glee sells individual “Make Your Own Candy” Kits as well as a “Make Your Own Candy” educational program that includes enough supplies to make 30-60 pieces of gum, lesson plans, a Chewing Gum History book, and an “El Chicle” DVD about  the harvesting of chicle.  This sounds like a great resource for parents, teachers and group leaders. Glee Gum can be purchased online and is available in stores nationwide. To find a store that sells Glee Gum local to your area, visit the Glee Gum store locator. Glee Gum sold online is available by the case or in bulk bags.  The price of a Glee Gum is $10-$11 per case or bulk packaging.
