Healthy Chips To Eat
Always on a diet and always searching for new, innovative ways to make veggies taste good. First I experimented with carrot chips, then I tried my hand at Turnip Chips.
This Turnip chip recipe is really easy to make and does not last long in my house at all. Mason & Jakobi ate 4 turnips worth of chips in a day. It took me a few to figure out where they were going until I caught Mr. Mason red-handed.
Turnip Chip Recipe
Ingredients
- Turnips– Scrub them good and remove any funky strings.
- Sea Salt and/or garlic powder
- Water
- Seasoning salt (optional)
One med/large turnip will yield a few batches in the microwave. First slice them to 1/8 of an inch on a mandolin or super thin with a sharp knife. I made a water bath with garlic powder and sea salt and soaked them as I cut the rest of the four turnips I bought. After slicing, dry them with paper towels and lay out on a sheet or plate making sure they are not touching.
Place the turnip slices in the microwave for 3 minutes on high and then flip them over and cook for 4 minutes on 1/2 power. When the slices being to brown take them out or keep microwaving at 1 minute intervals until done at 1/2 power.
I find that you need to eat these the day that you make them or they will soften up, however, my kids love them so much they do not last very long anyways!
