I thought I had this whole parenting thing figured out. My son, Aidan, is an absolute doll. He will eat whatever you put in front of him, he has never thrown a serious tantrum, and is so well behaved it is scary. My daughter Avery, on the other hand, is an absolute terror. She is 18 months of tantrums, screaming, crying, and food throwing. She could not be more opposite of Aidan. Now, I can deal with tantrums and crying any day of the week. What is hard for me is the refusal to eat. Both of my children are grazers, meaning they hardly ever eat an entire meal in one sitting. Instead, they eat throughout the day. Yes, I know this is not ideal but I will tackle that obstacle in another post. For now, my focus is healthy snacks for picky toddlers. Aidan will eat almost anything, so really my goal is to find snacks for my picky toddler, Avery.

As I was going up and down the baby aisles at Target a few weekends ago I spotted Gerber Lil’ Beanies. They were on the same shelves as the rest of the Gerber baby food and snack foods. I had never seen them before, so I thought I might as well give them a try.
While there are many options for healthy snacks for picky toddlers, Avery happens to love Gerber Lil’ Beanies. Lil’ Beanies are made with navy beans, giving them a mild flavor and 2 grams of protein with each serving. Even better, they are non-GMO and made with no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. They come in 2 flavors, Original and White Cheddar and Broccoli. Avery was keen to the broccoli, so she wouldn’t touch that flavor…or she was saving them for Aidan. She did, however, love the Original flavor! Lil’ Beanies are great for travel, and can be found at local retailers for under $2.00 per package, making them great snacks for picky toddlers.
