Healthy Snacks Kids Love (And Moms Too!)

I feel like my toddler would graze all day if I would let him. Cookies, candy and potato chips are asked for on the regular in my house. There are some days that I do let him indulge, but most of the time  we try to stick with healthy snacks. Now that Aidan is 3, I’m pretty sure he is on to me. It used to be easy to sneak him healthy snacks but his little taste buds must have developed because now it’s near impossible! I have had to get pretty creative with Aidan’s snacks recently!

5 Healthy Snacks Kids Love

  1. Pinwheels: All you really need to make a pinwheel is a tortilla and some peanut butter. If you are feeling creative, add some cream cheese, cucumber slices and turkey or make it a pizza pinwheel with mozzarella cheese and a dab of sauce.
  2. Smoothies: Throw whatever fruit you have laying around in the blender with a little bit of milk, yogurt and ice cubes. Using bananas? Add a little bit of peanut butter. Try planning ahead by freezing the fruit first and skipping the ice cubes. Either way, your kids will love it!
  3. Popcorn: This is a great snack to enjoy during movie night, or any night really. To keep it healthy, I purchase the smart pop varieties of popcorn, in the snack size bags. This way I don’t end up eating all of his leftovers! I even like to pack small bags of popcorn to bring while running errands with my little man. Something about popcorn keeps him quiet long enough for me to get my food shopping done.
  4. Trail Mix/Granola: These are both great treats for your little one to enjoy all day long. I will usually make a batch of granola during the weekend and we’ll all snack on it all week long. You can find a yummy granola recipe at my post, Staying Healthy: Why You Should Eat Breakfast.
  5. Veggie Crisps: Veggie crisps are a fun option for kids since they are crispy and crunchy, just like chips or cheese doodles. Your kids will never know that they are actually eating something healthy!

These snacks are all fairly easy to make on the fly and your little one will never know that they are eating something that’s actually good for them. Out of this list, my favorite mom snack would have to be veggie crisps. Harvest Snaps Snapea Crisps is one of my new favorites. I was given the opportunity to try all 6 of their new flavors and Aidan and I are both in love!

Harvest Snaps are great for munching on the couch, and I don’t feel like I’m over-indulging as my bag of Lightly Salted Snapeas slowly gets lighter and lighter. Since they are baked, gluten-free, high in fiber and protein and low in sodium and fat, I feel comfortable giving them to Aidan during snack time. He doesn’t seem to mind how healthy they are, either! Don’t you want to give them a try? You can, by winning your own Harvest Snaps Snack Box, valued at $15, with all 6 flavors included! After entering, visit their Lunchspiration page to see all of the different ways you can enjoy your Harvest Snaps!
