Have you ever wondered how to get glamorous nails like the celebrities? I was watching a movie recently and I was mesmerized by the nails of one of the women in the flick. Her nails looked so polished and clean without looking like she tried really hard to achieve that look. When I was younger, single and had a bit of disposable income, I would get my nails done. I loved how my nails look when I left and I was able to keep them looking fresh for a few weeks. Now that I am a mom and am hunting and pecking at the keyboard all day, my nails don’t look like they used to! I would love to get that look back but without spending the money to have them professionally done. Well, it just so happens that I was given the chance to do just that! I was sent some Sally Hansen nail polishes as well as the instructions to recreate a few of the looks from the 70th Annual Golden Globes.
- Naomi Watts was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Drama for her role in The Impossible. Tracey Sutter, who is the nail expert to the stars, gave Naomi an understated and natural look using Arm Candy ($7.99) from the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure. To achieve this look, Tracey applied just two coats of this light shade of blush, which gave just a hint of color for Naomi’s manicure.
- Jennifer Lawrence, who was nominated for Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for her role in Silver Linings Playbook. In order to not overshadow Jennifer’s dress, a rich coral color, a very light, almost imperceptible shade was chosen. April Foreman, the nail expert for Jennifer, decided to use the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Sheer Ecstasy ($7.99). Before applying two coats of this color, April moisturized Jennifer’s hands with Sally Hansen Smooth and Perfect Hand Crème.
- Adele was nominated for and won for the best Original Song in Film for her song Skyfall, which was for the James Bond movie of the same name. To add a bit of glitter to offset the black dress worn by Adele, Kimmie Kyees, celebrity manicurist to the stars, another Sally Hansen product was used. Kimmie started out by giving Adele’s nails two coats of the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure color So Much Fawn ($7.99). Kimmie then gave Adele two coats of Copper Penny ($7.99) from the Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure collection. This glittery polish was exactly what Adele needed to catch the many lights at the Golden Globes.
It was great fun for Caitlin and I to paint our nails to look like our favorite stars. I could not believe we could have the same look for only $7.99 per bottle. I thought the celebrities would be using a nail polish that was high priced and hard to get. What a pleasant surprise to see the women of the stage and screen are using the same products that I have been using for years! How cool is that?!
