I like the theme of tradition in that statement, so I prepared one of my family’s recipes handed down from generation to generation. Of course, it uses cans! Hungry Jack casserole is the dish my husband asks for when he can choose anything he wants to eat. It is a mixture of corn and beans blended with barbecue sauce and topped with biscuits and cheese. Yum! A meal fit for a real man. It is hearty, fills the belly and tastes great as left overs.

Hungry Jack Casserole Recipe
  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1 t salt
  • ¾ cup BBQ sauce
  • 2 T brown sugar
  • 16 oz can baked beans
  • 1 can corn
  • 1 c shredded cheese
  • 1 T minced onion
  • 1 can biscuits
  1. Brown, drain and rinse beef
  2. Stir in the next 5 ingredients with the onion
  3. Heat until bubbly
  4. Pour into a 2 qt casserole dish
  5. Cut biscuits in half and place in pan upside-down
  6. Sprinkle with cheese
  7. Bake until cheese is bubbly and browned and the biscuits are cooked at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes


  1. That looks delicious! I’m about read to ditch my daughters dinner idea and make this instead. If it wasn’t her day to make a special dinner I probably would, LOL
