To start off my journey as an Ambassador I went to the Skype’s “Mom You Rock” Facebook page and sent a video message to my mom. You can see my dancing and rocking out below! The really neat thing is that not only do I get to tell my mom I love her in person, but I just enabled Skype to donate $1 to Save the Children’s Gloabl Action Fund to support the new campaign.

My mom will think that is really funny. She is kind of a zany gal, and I know she will like that I took the time to send it to her. My mother-in-law lives in New Hampshire, which is pretty far away from us here in Florida. It is nice that we get to stay in touch over Skype. The kids are able to know who their Vavao is from chatting face to face and they are able to develop a better relationship than if they only sent cards.

I know my mom-in-love (that is what we say) really misses being in our lives and we in hers. It is nice to be able to have a two-way chat to be able to connect and interact in real time. When someone is really far away from you, you just want to be able to see their face something you just cannot do with a card.

My husband was away from the boys and I for almost a year for 6 weeks at a time driving an over-the-road truck. It was really hard on all of us. Mason was just about to turn one and Jakobi was two and a half. Noah missed his last soon’s birthday party, but we were able to get together on Skype to “see” each other for a short time. He was also not able to be home for Christmas, my birthday, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, basically every holiday for a whole year except for Thanksgiving. Thank goodness we were able to video chat. We missed seeing Daddy’s face especially on the holidays. Being able to see my husband and talk to him “face-to-face” really helped get our family through a rough time. I am so thankful for technology like Skype!

Another momentous occasion I was able to utilize Skype was sharing the birth of my son, Mason with my sister! She was supposed to be able to come down, but you know how births go and she lived four hours away so she would not make it in time. I really, really, really wanted my sissy there! My mom knew this and knew how much Jamie wanted to see everything so she Skyped her and set the computer in the background! How cool. Jamie was able to share in the experience after all. Then Mom brought up the computer so I could say hi and show off my newborn son. She cried, I cried, Mom cried, Noah cried and of course Mason was just hungry.

When is the last time you reached out to talk Face-to-face with the ones you love? How long has it been since you have seen your mom or dad or sisters or brothers. How long has it been since you have all had a conversation together face to face? It does not have to be long at all! Try Skype and see all the great features Skype now has to offer. Go to their Facebook page, and start by sending a video to your mom.

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Skype. I received Skype credits to facilitate my review and a promotional item to thank me for participating
