Sharing is an important lesson to teach your kids. It is also one that most mothers get to struggle with in the early years. I know as soon as Mason reached age two, he no longer wanted to share his toys with his older brother Jakobi, and the word, “Mine” became frequent in his vocabulary. I wanted to teach him, as I did Jakobi, the value of putting others first and sharing what we have with those who don’t. I think that if all of the human race could learn this very basic lesson, our world would be a much happier place.
I know my mom taught me to share with my sister at a very young age as well, and knew that what I had was to be shared with my sister or I could not play with it at all. Even time with our mom had to be shared and soon we learned to love to share with each other. I feel that the times I shared with my sister, then and now, are some of my favorite moments. Isn’t like just better when you share it with someone?
