When Life Gets Tough, Women Rise Above It

This blog post is part of a paid SocialMoms and Pine-Sol blogging program. The opinions and ideas expressed here are my own. It is a fact that life can deal some folks harsher blows than others. It is also true it is not how the blow was dealt, but how it was handled. Some handle their life’s tough times with less grace, while others rise above it. We hear stories all the time about women who receive the news of a cancer diagnosis, the loss of a child or a tough divorce. What sticks out in these stories is not really about what happened to the women, but how she persevered through it. Although I do not recommend the reaction, I always think of the scene in “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” when Angela Basset find her man has cheated on her and she proceeds to burn his clothes in front of the whole neighborhood! Have you been dealt a tough blow in your life or know someone who has? How did you or she deal with the news? In my life, my grandmother is a breast cancer survivor and she handled the process with grace, dignity and style! My lead writer, Kelly Hutchinson, her mom also had breast cancer and she is such a tough lady, Kelly said her mom Jane worked virtually the entire time, even with chemotherapy. When Life Gets Tough, How Do You Rise Above It?

In a recent Wakefield Research survey among women across the U.S. on behalf of Pine-Sol® Brand, said 86% of women 35+ have a role model they personally know. The study continued to say that 60% of those role models were family members and the rest were women in their community. What I loved most about the results of the study was that 65% of the women who were asked said they felt they were a role model to someone. As part of the “When Life Gets Tough, Women Rise Above It!” campaign, Pine-Sol® awarded a $25,000 donation to Women Empowered, a nonprofit organization which is based in Los Angeles that connects, educates and supports women of all ages and backgrounds. Diane Amos invites women everywhere to share their stories of perseverance and how they rose above a challenge in their lives, and enter for the chance to win a variety of great prizes.

They are also sponsoring a sweepstakes, which will take place once a week for 12 weeks.
