I really enjoy trying out new software; especially design software that allows me to experiment with different creations. There are times though that I want to create a specific look that I do not know how to do. It could take several hours of research or working with the software before I figure it out. Quite often it takes up way more time then I actually have. It is times like this that I think Lynda.com could come in real handy!
Online Software Training
Lynda.com is a great resource for anyone who needs some online software training that is available 24/7. I am sure, for so many people this site could be a real life saver since there is training available for software of any kind. For instance, my neighbor is a graphic artist but her employer added web development to her job description. Web development is not her forte so she was rather lost for awhile and had a lot of sleepless nights worrying that her job would be in jeopardy. I am quite sure Lynda.com would have been a resource that would have saved her from a lot of worrying.
When you go to the Lynda.com, you can choose the software you want to be trained on by either going through the subject or category drop down menus. You can also choose by author, however it would be choosing the author of the video training. For instance, if you saw video training for Illustrator CS5 and really enjoyed how the author of that video taught the information you could then look up that particular author to see other trainings he/she has available.
Learn From Home
Lynda.com is a subscription based website, although, it is a monthly subscription so you can cancel at anytime and then reactivate as needed. There are snippets of some of their most viewed courses available for you to view. This will allow you to get a feel for how the courses are taught and help you decide if this is the type of tool that would help you with your software training. I love the fact that this will allow me the convenience to learn from home. I am very excited to have found out about this site and look forward to using it. Stay tuned for my next post with a more detailed overview after I have taken a class.
Want to learn with me? I have an annual subscription to giveaway to one lucky reader. Just tell me which class you are most excited to learn about and why in the blog comments below.

I definitely need computer training in many areas, as I am 51 years old and when I went to school computer programs like these were not developed yet. I got squeezed out of the job market because the younger generations had computer training and I did not have the opportunity to update my skills. I definitely need Excel. I would also want to be able to learn courses that will help me develop a good online business website. I was impressed with all the courses for business or recreational pursuits offered by Lynda.com
