Make Dinner For Dad
Why not make dinner for dad on Father’s Day? I usually get breakfast on bed on Mother’s day so it is only fair to treat my husband to a home-made meal on his special day. The kids always make their dad a card and I try to make his favorite meal. My husband is one of those guys who really doesn’t want or need anything, so we make him something at home. Last year we pitched in and made homemade meatloaf and mashed potatoes. We recently bought a new outdoor grill, so I thought it would be a great idea to grill out for our Father’s Day this year. The one thing I don’t like about grilling out is how difficult it is to find good meat for the cookout. We had a butcher nearby we used for years, but they recently closed. It is a shame that so many butchers have been forced to close due to the wide variety and low prices the chain stores can offer.
Omaha Steaks is the closest I have found to my local butcher. The main offices for the company are located in Omaha, Nebraska where all their products are custom cut and packaged. Founded in 1917, this family owned business has been distributing delicious steaks, red meats and other gourmet items. I wasn’t aware of this, but Omaha Steaks also offers a wide variety of sea food, deserts, rubs, sauces and marinades. You can purchase your quality items online or you can use their store locator to find a retail store near you and shop there. Omaha Steaks has won several awards for their food products but they also include awards for offering their benefits packages to their employees as well as their family-friendly policies. Again, we have been lucky enough to discover another company who takes care of their employees, which is rare these days. Way to go Omaha Steaks!!
Picnic Food Ideas
If you are looking for picnic food ideas, you can find a ton of great ideas at Omaha Steaks online. I was lucky to be offered a great package of their fine products for review. The Father’s Day Picnic package included: 4 (4 oz.) Filet Mignon, 4 (4 oz.) Omaha Steaks Burgers, 1 lb. Boneless Chicken Breasts, 4 (3 oz.) Gourmet Franks and a 4″ Carnegie Deli Cheesecake, which is valued at $136.00, but is offered at the sale price of $69.99. I am sucker for a good steak, but I was unprepared for how truly delicious these melt-in-your-mouth filet mignon’s were. I thought I would not find a difference from their meats and the meats I get at the grocery store. Well, I was very wrong! Everything was so delicious, and the cheesecake is absolutely to die for! Another great feature on the Omaha Steaks home page is their recipe and grilling ideas and tips. I am sold on the Omaha Steak products and look forward to our annual 4th of July cookout!
One reader will win a Father’s Day Picnic package like the one I reviewed (valued at $69.99)
