It can be hard to find the right handicap accessible transportation.  Thankfully, there is an organization that can help.  NMEDA is a non-profit trade association that will help educate you on buying products from a NMEDA qualified dealer.  NMEDA dealers are required to adhere to the safety standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, so you can be assured that all handicap vans and vehicle modifications for disabled people will be held to the highest standards.

No two people with a disability are exactly the same, and that’s why the NMEDA will give you a personalized “in-person” evaluation that will help you to determine the right option for your specific needs.   This can work wonders in helping the disabled get back on the road of independence.

The NMEDA also has Quality Assurance Program dealers.  The QAP is the only nationally recognized accreditation program for the Adaptive Mobility Equipment Industry.  In order to satisfy customers consistently, companies must have a systematic and documented approach to quality, and this is what the QAP aims to accomplish.

It is very easy to find out if you have a NMEDA dealer near you.  Just go to the NMEDA website and use their dealer locator.  I did, and I’ve come to discover that there are dealers just a mere 10 miles away from my zip code!

It can be extremely difficult to be a caregiver for the disabled.  Please, allow NMEDA to help make it easier for you and those you are caring for.
