Nutty Chocolate Crisps Recipe

When the holidays roll around, the baking begins in my house! If I do not have something in the oven just about every day, my kids start complaining! I realize that paybacks are heck and whatever you did to your mom, your kids will probably do to you, right? Well, my sister and I would hound my mom around September 15th to start her holiday baking and she would get so flustered with us! She made virtually everything from scratch and her cookies were known throughout out neighborhood. I want my kids to have some tasty treats as well, but I do not always have the time to make something from scratch.  I also need to take into account that Henry has a need for gluten free snacks whenever possible. Because we are big snackers in my house, we eat a lot of crackers. One of my latest obsessions are the Rice Thins from Nabisco. These incredibly crunchy and delicious crackers are perfect for after school, watching TV or making an easy peasy treat for the kids.

Nabisco Rice Thins

Nabisco has been manufacturing cookies and snacks in America since 1890. They make such classics as Chips Ahoy!, Newtons, Oreo and Nilla Wafers. Some newer items making a big splash are the delicious BelVita and the yummy and crunchy Rice Thins snacks. These tasty crackers come in 3 flavors; White Rice Original, Brown Rice White Cheddar
and Brown Rice Sea Salt & Pepper.

When I tell you there is a flavor everyone in the family will love, I am not kidding. While I am partial to the Original flavor, the kids are hooked on the White Cheddar and my husband is crazy about the Sea Salt & Pepper. They are a healthy alternative to other snack options with a 1 ounce service touting only 130 calories and only 2 grams of fat. In trying to make the kids a yummy sweet and salty treat, I made a version of my Nutty Chocolate Treats using the Original flavor of the Rice Thins.

  1. Hard to choose just one! I like OREOS of course, and Wheat Thins (though I’m trying to avoid wheat, so the Rice Thins would be great) and I liked Triscuits.

  2. i would love to try the belvita breakfast biscuits, i have heard they were really good but i haven’t tried them before

  3. Oh my favorite used to be the Ritz crackers, but since my celiac disease diagnosis, I have to eat gluten free. I was so excited to hear they were coming out with gluten free rice crackers! I cannot wait to try them!

  4. there are only three store bought cookies I will eat, all three are products under the
NABISCO umbrella: Nutter Butter’s for my peanut butter cravings, mallomars when I want chocolate, and then Fig Newtons.

  5. I was a hospital nutritionist before I was a nurse and we always took a few extra Nabisco graham crackers with us, along with the diabetic’s graham snacks that they were allowed as exchanges. Those crackers saved me many a night when I was starving!
