If you enjoy watching shows that are based on the paranormal then you will love knowing that the bone-chilling, real-life mysteries of Paranormal State: The Ultimate Collection is now available on DVD.  This series followed and starred the Pennsylvania State University Paranormal Research Society (PRS), a student-led college club.

The PRS was founded in 2001 and is one of the most recognized paranormal societies in the nation.  The PRS investigates cases and attempts to answer questions no one else can by use of Electronic Voice Phenomenon (EVP) recordings and video documentation, along with the help of respected psychics, demonologists, psychologists, and counselors.

Paranormal Reality Shows

It first aired on the cable channel A&E on December 10, 2007 with A&E having high hopes for this show since paranormal reality shows drew a big viewing. The cast included Ryan Buell, Chip Coffey, Chad Calek, and Heather Taddy.  When the show debuted it had 2.5 million viewers watching the first two back-to-back episodes, making it the third-most watched show on A&E since 2004.  The production team first, co-executive producer Tina Gazzerro had stated, to ensure that a producible episode would result, outlined every episode of the show. Information about the event under investigation would be held back from the students in order to create dramatic tension, and only situations that would have a conclusive outcome were investigated.

The show was still very popular when Ryan Buell had announced on his blog in January 2011 that Paranormal State would, in fact be ending since the cast had wanted to pursue other interests.  The final episode aired on May 2, 2011.

Paranormal State: The Ultimate Collection brings together 85 thrilling episodes of the classic series. It also includes bonus feature, such as additional footage, cast commentaries, and behind-the-scenes featurettes.

You can find this DVD collection on Amazon, which is normally $99.95 but is on sale right now for only $29.99.  It is also available at Barnes and Noble, Best Buy, Walmart, and other retailers.
