If you’re looking for the perfect girly weekend getaway for you and your pals, Barcelona city breaks are the answer. Not only is there excellent nightlife, with so many fantastic bars and restaurants, but there’s also so much to see and do: you won’t have one minute to be bored in this Spanish hub of culture and fun!
Sun, Sea and Sand
Not only is Barcelona a fantastic city break, but you’re also only a short Metro trip away from a beach at Barceloneta. You can sunbathe or paddle surf, or just wander along the shore and stop for a sangria at one of the fantastic beach-side bars and restaurants. To really get away from the city buzz, a short train journey will take you to Sitges, where it’s peaceful and quiet.
To get a true view of the city as a whole, take a tour and see as much as you can in one day. City Sightseeing tours are ideal for this: you can buy a day ticket and travel around the whole city, hopping on and off wherever you fancy. Visit Parc Güell on a hill above the city, Gaudi’s beautifully designed park full of trees and sculptures, along with spectacular views.
If you love Parc Güell and want to see more of Gaudi’s architecture, you can go into one of the phenomenal houses he designed – there’s a few throughout the city. Their undulating curves and bright colours are reminiscent of underwater palaces or castles from fairytales.
Don’t forget to wander through the old town – Barrio Gotico. Its cobbled streets and beautiful squares make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, and it’s just off the Ramblas. Keep walking into Born, where you’ll find cocktail bars and salsa clubs where you and your friends can dance the night away into the early hours!
Food and Drink
No trip to Spain is complete without a taste of tapas and a swig of Spanish cocktail or sangria. Visit the roof terrace of the Hotel Majestic for a drink in style, with views out of the whole of Barcelona.
Barcelona is the perfect place for a group of girlfriends to visit: there’s such a variety of activities and entertainment that everyone will have a great time, whether you’re into partying or relaxing on your Barcelona weekend.
