I live in Florida, and always have. So, shopping for warm fall clothes for my kids is something I have never done. Not even for myself. Our wardrobe is pretty much the same year round, and we make it a point to avoid the cold at all costs. I suppose that you can say that our blood is as thin as it gets. It is pretty amusing that we decided to travel up North for an upcoming vacation. In the snow. The very, very, very cold snow. The kind that is white and falls to the ground freezing your nose beyond belief.
The stores here do not even carry the kind of gear I am going to need for the type of weather we are going to experience, so I turned to shop online. I really did not want to spend an arma and a leg on cold weather gear for stuff we would only use for one week. I was looking for a site that would have top quality items to protect my kids from the weather at bargain prices. I found a place called CookiesKids.
Cookies Kids was founded in 1972 by a young man named Cookie and his brother Marvin. They opened a day after Thanksgiving with a full stock of holiday toys. The toys were a success and they put the extra money toward buying children’s clothing for the next season.
By the late 1990’s there were six superstores throughout the NYC area and that is when an important addition to Cookie’s Kids’ inventory was added: school uniforms. It was the steady success in uniform sales that paved the way for founding CookiesKids.com in 2007, which originally sold uniforms and soon after the entire Cookie’s Kids Inventory.
You can see more about the online store and my experience in my Google Plus Album. They even have a credit refund policy because they have so many incredible deals. For example, if you buy something one day for $8.99 and the next day it gets discounted to $7.99 Cookie’s Kids will add the $1 difference into your CK account for future use. Pretty cool huh? I think that would save you a lot of time from hunting down the best days to shop for the best deals. You can find all of the brands below and more at Cookies Kids.
Normally when I shop online, I let my kids sit on my lap and help me pick out what they want, but because I was looking for a specific sort of outer snow gear, I just let them pick the color. Of course they both picked the same color: blue. The CB Sports “Brenner” 2-Piece Snowsuit I chose was 72% off with a final price of $24.99 reduced from $90.
I figured it was a great choice for the snow considering it was weather-resistant and fully insulated and was designed specifically for extremely cold temperatures. Cookies Kids made it easy for me to make sure I had the right size. They have a sizing feature that will help you tell what size your kids wear in that particular item. You just click on the Alva Kids icon and it will ask you a few questions about your child. Shipping was pretty quick after I ordered, and it was not too long until my kids were modeling their new gear.
