Reading To Your Child This Summer
Reading to your child this summer is one of the most important things a parent can do, in my opinion. Â Ever since having my first daughter 4.5 years ago we made reading one of our top priorities each day. Â It almost became an obsession for me, I love books for myself so of course I went overboard with books for my children. Â They each adore reading and each night we pick a stack of books and read before bed time. Â Usually they are shorter books that we can get through in 5 minutes, the attention span of a 4.5 year old and 20 month old only lasts so long. Â When I was given the opportunity to review The Tooth Fairy Goes On Vacation Enter The Corn Bunny by Ibrahim Ginoschio’ De Osceola, I jumped at the chance to read something new, I read the same book over and over sometimes! Â The book is 40 pages so it wasn’t something I could read all in one sitting. Â I did choose to only read it to my older daughter because my little one just wouldn’t have cooperated. Â I was glad I did so because as I was reading the first page my daughter said “where are the pictures” and I thought oh no maybe she’s too young for this…but I said there are no pictures you need to use your imagination and envision the story taking place. Â She gave me a strange look and said she was ready to listen. Â I got to about page 20 before she started to dose which I thought was impressive. Â We read it in 2 nights and we both enjoyed the book very much.
Who Is The Tooth Fairy
My daughter is very curious and wanted to know who is the tooth fairy? Â Before kids I don’t think I would have been stumped so answer this question. Â But now having kids, giving the right explanation is very important because it will come back to haunt you when you least expect it. Â It seems as though kids are loosing their teeth at an earlier age and it’s been a topic she is very interested in. Â I was delighted to read her The Tooth Fairy Goes On Vacation Enter The Corn Bunny because its a darling story about the tooth fairy going on vacation and being replaced by the corn bunny. Â The author has a wonderful way of making you feel like you are right there with them, I could picture everything he was describing. Â The corn bunny doesn’t do things the way the tooth fairy does when it comes to his duties but he has a special way of listening to the children to tell what they need. Â The corn bunny uses his magical dream catcher necklace to go into childrens dreams and really listen to what they are thinking. Â It is an inspiring story and truely takes you on a journey of imagination one that we will cherish and read again and again. Â It’s a great story for children who are getting ready to lose teeth.
The author has purposely made spelling mistakes to help children learn to spot them.  This helps children with spelling which will increase their spelling skills and literacy.  After reading this book, it has her mind wandering and questioning how things really happen with the tooth fairy.  I think she is anxious to lose her first tooth and see what happens at her house.  I often have difficulty getting my daughter to listen to me and have taken from this book a new way of looking at hearing and listening.  You can purchase this book for $8.95 on Amazon.
