Chimpanzee opened today! I was able to go to the Red Carpet premiere of Chimpanzee and was able to meet the directors of the movie as well as meet the McClain sisters and Jane Goodall. Here you can see my movie review of Chimpanzee, and below is the trailer of the movie. Make sure to interact with Disneynature on Facebook , join in the conversation on Twitter @Disneynature, and educate yourself about the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund and Jane Goodall Institute. Please try to see Chimpanzee on April 20 to do your part to save a chimpanzee.
Disneynature will make a donation, for every ticket sold during opening week, to the Jane Goodall Institute through the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund in order to protect chimpanzees and their habitats, now and into the future. Disneynature’s Chimpanzee opens in theaters everywhere and you can make a difference helping prevent the extinction of chimpanzees. See this film in theaters during opening week April 20-26, 2012.
Before the movie, we were able to walk the red carpet with the stars. I had never been to a red carpet premiere and I thought we were supposed to stop and smile for the cameras and give interviews. I was nervous and had nothing to say; I mean I was no Jane Goodall. Then when I finally said something aloud along the lines of why do we need to be interviewed, one of the other mommy bloggers laughed at me and said just walk and don’t stop. I was in such a tail spin I do not even remember who it was, but thank goodness. Can you imagine me stopping at the reporters and saying, “Hi, I am a mommy blogger” with a big smile. When the pictures were released my sister ended up with her backside a red carpet picture. Not a single one of me. Good thing I snagged some of the good ones for you to enjoy. Below is my favorite one of Dr. Jane Goodall walking in. She is such an amazing woman.
As wondrous as this shower of Disney stars was, my favorite part of the event was watching the star-stuck kids faces as they watched their idols walk within inches of them. The stars were so kind and often stopped to give hugs, sign autographs, and give words of encouragement. I also noticed that when we were seated in the movie theater that whole families of the stars arrived to show support. You could see them as kids giggling while running up the stairs, holding hands, and whispering. Down to earth and heart-warming to view the Disney idols as real people.
