The Infiniti QX lineup started out in 1997 as the QX4, essentially a rebadged Nissan Pathfinder. A major redesign for 2004 shared architecture and parts with the bigger Infiniti Armada, and rechristened the vehicle as “QX56.” For 2011, Infiniti threw out the playbook, and created a truly all-new QX56. The 2012 QX56 is a holdover from 2011, with some new packaging and a few new technology options available in a package that was already sophisticated and advanced.
