Humane Ways To Deter Wild Animals

With my raccoon problem, I knew I needed to find humane ways to deter wild animals. I was not going to find a traditional trap or a chemical that would hurt the raccoon.  I wanted to get the raccoon to leave us alone, not kill it. I was able to choose between the Spray Away or a granular/spray repellent ($10.99-$31.99). I decided to go with the Havahart Spray Away  Motion Activated Sprinkler 2.0 ($69.99) which sprays the animal with water.  I loved the idea that I could scare the raccoon away instead of hurting it.  The Spray Away has an infrared motion detector that will activate it when it is triggered.  Once it is triggered, it will spray a burst of water and make a noise that will scare the animal away.  The Spray Away has several features including:

Another cool thing is if you want, you can hook up your hose to it during the day you can!  You can water your lawn or let the kids run through the water and then set it for your furry nighttime visitor!!  It is super easy to set us and use.  All you do is put the sturdy stand into the ground, set the direction you want and you are ready to go.  I appreciated the adaptability of the Spray Away to change directions because we found that it would spray the raccoon, but with the tree we have the trash cans nearby, sometimes the raccoon got past the spray.  We decided to aim it to spray the top of the trash cans and that worked perfectly!  We have had no trouble with the raccoon since using the Spray Away and no animals were harmed in the process!  Yay!!!
