Going on family vacations has gotten increasingly difficult over the years.  Between the flight, hotel, food and attractions it has just not fit into our budget. Staying local or not going on vacation seems to be a growing trend with the families I know. In today’s economy, family vacations are often unaffordable.

Six Flags_Poltergeist and Scream.tif

We may actually try to get away for a weekend this summer, which would be great since the kids have been begging to go somewhere.  While we were looking for somewhere to go that had a deal we came across a great value pack that has been put together in the SAVE – San Antonio Vacation Experience.

Six Flags SkyScreamer.jpg

San Antonio is trying to make summer getaways more affordable with SAVE (the San Antonio Vacation Experience). There are a ton of great things to save on, such as: theme parks, animal adventures historic tours, great deals on hotels, and much more.  There is more than $600 in savings being offered by the SAVE program.

SchlitterbahnCongoRiver.jpg

We are not planning a larger trip like this for this year, but my husband and I were mulling around the idea for something in the future.  We did talk a little bit about the attractions we would go to and where we would like to stay.

Splashtown11.JPG

SeaWorld would be a blast, especially since it is debuting “Aquatica”, an 18-acre aquatic park with up-close animal experiences, high-speed thrills and relaxing, sandy beaches.  The SAVE discount include deals on family-four packs, second day free, $10 off admission and more.

SanAntonioZoo.jpeg

Six Flags Fiesta Texas features over 50 rides and attractions, including eight roller coasters. New at Fiesta Texas is the SkyScreamer swing ride that provides aerial views that surpass the park’s quarry walls.  The SAVE discounts include adults pay kids price, buy an adult ticket and get a child’s free, next day free and more.

A waterpark sounds like a lot of fun, especially in the summer in San Antonio!  I would love to go check out Schlitterbahn The Falls.  It has the world’s longest waterpark ride at 3,600 feet at continuous rapids.  The SAVE discount is up to $10. Limited Time Offers

In staying with the waterparks, we would also like to visit Splashtown.  It has over 50 rides and attractions, concerts, and a “Dive In Movie” nights for families.  The SAVE discount is up to $42.

We would love to experience the plants and animals of Africa and go on a safari in San Antonio at the San Antonio Zoo’s exhibit Africa Live!  It has exotic exhibits and even an African street market!  The SAVE is $2 off admission.

SeaWorld Aquatica_Ray Lagoon Family.jpg

We would love to stay in the downtown area at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio!  The SAVE rates there are from $129 – $289. This is an excellent hotel to stay at for those who suffer with allergies!  They actually go through a 6-step process called Respire to reduce airborne particles and minimize the presence of potential irritants.

This really does sound like it would be an excellent vacation.  SAVE makes vacationing more affordable, especially for larger families.

If you would like to plan a trip to San Antonio, stap up-to-date on all the deals, limited time offers, and ideas to help plan your trip by following them on @SAVEinSA

  256. The vacations that I remember as being the very best were affordable and really quite simple, as Disney and such were simply beyond our meager vacation budget. The vacations we remember the most often and laugh about are cottage vacations, cottages rented either through friends or at cottage resorts. Enjoying nature, hikes, the beach, showers in waterfalls, boating and the all time favorite nightly campfire. We are so much more “together” at the cottage and I love the lack of television, computer, telephones and daily stressors. We have just returned from 4 days at the cottage and would recommend this type of vacation to any family, regardless of the age of children.
