Sid The Science Kid

Sid The Science Kid

With summer here and Father’s Day around the corner, what could be more fun than to join Sid The Science Kid for Sid’s Backyard Campout?  My family was asked to review the new Sid The Science Kid DVD from NCircle Entertainment and we were thrilled.  My kids and I absolutely love the Sid The Science Kid DVD’s and also watch the show on PBS.  If you don’t know about Sid, I will give you a little background on Sid and the other colorful characters on the show.  Sid is a 5 year old preschooler who has a healthy curiosity for the world around him.  Sid lives with his mom, dad and baby brother Zeke (who is precious!!), he is taught by Teacher Susie and his best buddy is Gerald, who is just as cute as Sid.  The show is co-produced by Jim Henson of the Muppet fame and now that I have told you that, you will go back and look at the series and nod your head and say to yourself, “Yes!  The characters look like the Henson Muppet’s but they are animated!  With the miracle of computers and digital puppetry, these characters are brought to life in bright beautiful colors and they look so “real” you almost feel as if you are watching the Muppet Show on television but with new characters!

Sid The Science Kid
The Sid the Science Kid series is targeted at the 3-6 year old age group, but at 10 and 13, my kids love watching the show as well, and I don’t mind watching it with them.  As we home school Henry, this show has been a regular part of our curriculum.  Sid asks great questions and he and his teacher, family and friend investigate and answer them in a fun and interesting way to learn.  Henry is an avid science enthusiast, so the Sid the Science Kid show is right up his alley.  Also, Henry is almost 11 physically but with his autism, he is mentally closer to 6, so he really does fit into the target audience.  Sid encourages kids to ask questions about things they don’t know or understand and the adults in the show give the information in an easy to understand way.  As an inquisitive mind is a healthy mind, Sid and his friends prepare your children to ask and learn.

Quality Entertainment For Kids

NCircle Entertainment is the company who brings you quality entertainment for kids, like Sid the Science Kid.  This company believes that kids who learn early are paving the way for a successful path in school and in life.  Kids love the DVD’s from NCircle because they are fun, engaging, and colorful and parents love them for the lesson teach their children.  This award winning company has placed their focus on the sales, marketing and distribution of quality entertainment for children and families.

Quality Entertainment For Kids
The NCircle team are also involved in an amazing program; K.I.D.S. (Kids In Distressed Situations).  For the past 26 years, the K.I.D.S. foundation has provided over $1 billion in solicited donations from children focused companies.  From these companies, children are given new clothing, shoes, toys, books, educational items and baby products to over 70 million children in need.  Instead of a hand out the K.I.D.S. foundation gives a hand up to families in need from chronic poverty or natural disasters.  The staff at K.I.D.S. connects these industry giants to local organizations who in turn coordinate the delivery of the products to those in need.  I have said this before and I am sure I will say it again; there is a direct connection between the undeniable moral character of a company and their benevolence to those in need.

Sids Backyard Campout
The new DVD from NCircle Entertainment is Sid the Science Kid; Sid’s Backyard Campout ($5.99).  Sid and his best friend Gerald go camping in Sid’s backyard with Mort, who is Sid’s Dad.  With Mom Alice inside with baby Zeke, the boys set out for an adventure outdoors.  With flashlights in hand, tents set up and a fire ready for cooking, the guys are all set!  Mort is a huge nature buff, so he is an enthusiastic guide to these two curious boys.  The trio go looking for exotic animals (grin), cook camping grub, gaze at a blanket of stars and sing songs around the campfire.  The love Sid has for his dad and Gerald is almost palpable and the ease with which Mort and Alice interact with their children gives children insight into the functioning of a happy and solid family.  I think these qualities are as important as the lessons our kids are learning from Sid.  In honor of the release of the DVD, my family invited my best friend Carol and her awesome kids, Anna (14), Alex (12) and Adam (8), to watch the DVD with us.  We cooked out burgers and hot dogs and “roasted” marshmallows at our home made campfire (Thank you Caitlin for such a literal interpretation of a real fire).  We absolutely loved the new Sid the Science Kid DVD ($5.99) and would highly recommend this to anyone with a curious kid and a back yard to camp in.  I think you can easily see how much fun the kids had by the exhausted kids in this last picture!  Thank you NCircle Entertainment for allowing us to share in the experience that is Sid the Science Kid!!  Oh, and by the way…Henry is currently watching Sid’s Backyard Campout for the 9th (yes, 9th) time in 2 days 🙂Sids Backyard Campout
