I work on the computer a lot throughout the day, which mean I spend a large portion of my days seated.  If I an not careful, this can lead to too much inactivity.  During the summer, our days are so busy that I am not too worried about not getting enough exercise.  However, the winter is when I really need to make a conscious effort to get some exercise in my day. That means going to the gym each day or, at the very least, going for a walk. Inactivity can lead to obesity, and heart disease.

Ergonomic Adjustable Tables

I came across these really cool ergonomic adjustable tables the other day.  Some of the neat functions of these tables is you can raise them high enough so you can stand to do your work, and you can also adjust them so you are in the proper seated position. Not being in the proper-seated position can lead to neck and back pain, and carpal tunnel syndrome. Often, I have so much work, I can barely keep up with it. There are too many days, I can get too engrossed in what I am doing and realize at the end of the day I did not get proper activity.  For days such as these, it is a benefit to be able to at least stand up periodically throughout the day to work.

Health Benefits of Standing

There are some great health benefits of standing while using an adjustable table:

  • Reduce cancer risks by 30%
  • Reduce heart disease risks by 46%
  • Increase energy, productivity and stamina
  • Decrease back and neck pain
  • Corrects posture to eliminate carpel tunnel issues
  • Lose Weight. Standing burns twice as many calories as sitting

These are some great benefits to having an ergonomic adjustable table! I think I will be definitely looking into these adjustable tables a little more. Besides, I was just think of looking into a new desk.
