Stay Cool This Summer

Stay Cool This Summer

I am in the South, so I am always looking to stay cool this summer with clothing that is light but pretty.  I love to wear flowing sundresses and pretty sleeveless tops.  We usually see our first hint of warm weather in mid-late April and it stays warm until October or November.  Actually we have had more than one Thanksgiving or Christmas where we wore shorts!  It just doesn’t seem right, does it?!  Not all sleeveless tops for women are created equal because depending on the fabric used, you can get a pretty heavy or a light weight cotton.  If a tank is made from a heavier fabric, you may as well be wearing a long sleeve shirt!!

Hip Mountain Mama is a treasure I discovered several weeks ago who has everything from bath products to clothing for the whole family.  There are so many benefits that come with a purchase from this store that it is hard to focus on just one!  Founded in August of 2008 by Suzy Hawbaker, Hip Mountain Mama is all about small business, fair trade, living a natural lifestyle and raising children with an awareness of how precious our planet is.  All the products from this store are either made in the USA or from fair trade in India or Nepal, some of which are handmade from stay at home moms!  Andy, Suzy’s husband quit his job in November of 2009 and joined his wife in this modern day mom and pop business.  These parents don’t own a business but rather a way of life, one they have developed with their two children in mind.  The best way to be an eco-friendly adult is to be raised as an eco-friendly child.

Hip Clothes For The Whole Family

One of the things I love about Hip Mountain Mama is they offer hip clothes for the whole family.  I don’t know if you have looked lately, but it is rare to find a business that caters to the entire family rather than just one member.  I struggled with the choice of who was going to get the review item, so to make it fair I decided on ME!!  I received the Peggy O tank which are strips of beautiful fabric that are pieced together like a quilt.  It is more like a baby doll top, so it is a bit longer than some and you can wear it with anything from jeans to leggings.  I wish I could properly describe to you how gorgeous this top is.  I sew and my friend Carol came over and I showed her the top and she said, “I bet you can make a top like this” and I said, “There was no way I could replicate the details in the top”.  With it being her birthday and how much she loved the Peggy O, I offered it to her and she ran into the bathroom and tried it on and it fit like it was made for her!  You really should take a look at the Hip Mountain Mama website to see the huge variety they have to offer.  I promise you there is something there for everyone from baby to grandma!
