Although June 21 may be the official start of summer, for school age kids, that is not their start date. When that school bells rings for the last time, ending the school year is when summer starts for them. After about the first 2 weeks of summer, parents everywhere will begin to hear one question and one declaration that are like fingernails on a chalkboard. That question would be: "Are we there yet?" and the declaration is "MOM! We are bored!". It will not matter if you have a pool, a bouncy house, a clown and a carousel in your yard. At some point the kids are going to get bored. When that happens in my house, I go to Dollar General and stock up on all sorts of affordable boredom busters.
Summer Boredom Busters For The Kids
I consider myself a pretty creative mom and have some effective summer boredom busters in my arsenal. But, hey, I am only human, so I run out of ideas by the middle of the summer! Dollar General has a list of 21 Fun Summer Activities. Some of my favorites from the list (which you can print off from the website) are to stargaze, play hopscotch, and see a drive-in movie. Another favorite on the list is something the adults and the kids can enjoy and that is to host a cookout. See all the Summer supplies at Dollar General.
With all that summer fun the kids are having, they can really work up an appetite. One of the most popular summer family activities is to grill out some of your favorite foods and invite a few neighbors over. You may not be aware the your local Dollar General store has such brands as AmeriGas®, Kraft® and Pace® for your summer grilling and eating enjoyment. After dinner is over and the grown ups relax and chat, the kids are going to want something fun to do. With the huge selection of toys, outdoor games, craft supplies and more at Dollar General, the kids will have hours of fun. Now that is a great way to end a perfect summer day!
And while the adults are busy cooking up some tasty summertime meals, the kiddos need to be entertained. Good thing Dollar General has you covered there too! Kids activities (toys, outdoor games, coloring books, etc).
