I’m sharing #Luvs in my life as part of a LUVs sponsored series for Socialstars™
We all know that mom. The one who is overprotective and borderline crazy about their children. Well, I am that mom, and rightfully so. Aidan was born 2 months permature. Thankfully, he only did a 2 week stint in the NICU, but he still came home a teeny, tiny 4lb. 9oz. Almost 5 years later it is still hard to wrap my head around how small and fragile he actually was. In fact, his pediatrician and developmental specialist recommended he didn’t go to daycare for at least the first year of his life, meaning that I needed to leave my job behind. Aidan and I formed a bond like no other. My husband worked his butt off to allow me to stay home, so when it came down to it, it was Aidan and me 24/7 for 365. Chris and I didn’t go out together often in that first year, but when we did it was difficult to leave Aidan home. We only trusted a small handful of people, including my best friend, who exemplifies what it means to be a great babysitter.
10 Signs of a Great Babysitter
She is able to whip up activities to keep your kids entertained at the drop of a hat.
Of your time, and expects the same in return.
She knows exactly when it is lunch time, what the kids are allowed to eat and when they should go down for a nap (even if the kids fight her!)
She is quick to send a picture of the kids, even before you ask!
She keeps the house clean, never leaving a mess for you to deal with when you get home.
She is genuinely happy to hang out with your kids in your absence.
She isn’t a stranger when she isn’t with the kids. She occasionally send text messages just to let you know she’s thinking of you.
You never, ever, have to worry about the safety of your children.
Your kids ask about her when she isn’t around and are happy to see her when she arrives.
She isn’t just a babysitter, she is practically a member of your family (and not because you overuse her services!).
As I wrote this list, I had one person in mind. My best friend, Melissa, meets the criteria for all 10 of my great babysitter must haves. She even goes above and beyond this list on a regular basis. In fact, just last weekend she called to tell me that my husband and I were going out on a date and she would be over to watch the kids in the morning. I hung up with her and told Chris. We both laughed and shrugged and said “well, guess we better think of somewhere to go!”
Mel isn’t afraid to get hands on with my kids, even when Avery is packing heat in her Luvs diaper. When she is over on a lazy weekend, Aves goes to Melissa first when she has a dirty diaper; I’m pretty sure she prefers her diaper change method over mine, and I don’t mind one bit. Mel doesn’t have kids (yet!), so I have been coaching her on a few baby best practices. One of my must-haves are Luvs Diapers.
I have been using Luvs since my first born. We actually stumbled upon them when we were a one income family, finding them to be best best deal and a great value. They are just as good, if not better, than the pricer brands that we tried. There are two things that I know for sure about parenting, and they are that great diapers and a great babysitter are worth their weight in gold! I can’t help you with actually finding the great babysitter that meets the above criteria, but I can help you with finding Luvs Diapers. You can find Luvs at most retailers, usually starting at around $6.99 for a soft pack. For all of the second time moms reading, take a look at this video by Luvs. Can you relate?!
