Who said if you get past the age of 40 all the fun has to stop? Um, not me, that is for sure! Although our idea of fun as we get older may change, it certainly does not disappear. I still like to dress up at Halloween and will get on the floor and sort through the candy with the kids. I have been known to roll up my pant legs and kick through a rain puddle or two after a storm. And do not get me started on riding the biggest and baddest roller coaster you can find, because I am on it! And for everyday fun, I love to drive a car that can still give me a thrill. With the 2014 Kia Forte, I get a fun car to drive that is so good looking, it has heads turning!
If you are a fan of the Kia line, you are going to love the new Kia Forte. This four door sedan is a fun car to drive and it is not your grandmother’s family car! You are getting an extra 2 inches in the wheelbase and over an inch in length over last years model. This addition in size carries over into the interior as well. You get an incredibly comfortable and roomy back seat. The trunk has plenty of room for your groceries, the kids sports equipment and a big picnic basket.
For you mechanics in the crowd, there is a lot going on under the hood as well. If you choose the LX, you get a 1.8-liter engine with 148 horsepower and 131 lb-ft of torque. If you choose the Kia Forte EX, you get a 2.0-liter engine, 173 horsepower and 154 lb-ft of torque. Both models have struts in the front, a torsion-beam rear axle, all around and a new electric power-steering system. The interior noise on the 2014 Forte is said to be among the quietest cars in its class. You can expect to see high quality air conditioning, audio system, Bluetooth connectivity, USB and auxiliary input jacks, a tilting-and-telescoping steering wheel, and power windows and locks. With the LX model, you also will see steering-wheel auxiliary controls, dual 12-volt outlets, projector-beam headlights (low-beams), a trip computer, and an outside-temperature display.
To give you even more room, the backseats fold down forward to give you even more room. Overall, the car is longer, wider and lower so you get a more stable car that really hugs those curves. The sculpted lines have added a dimension of sleekness that has people gawking when you drive by.
With the Kia Forte EX , you will get an additional six-speaker audio system, cruise control, fog lights, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, remote keyless entry, and power mirrors with turn signal repeaters. You can also opt for a power sunroof, side-mirror puddle lamps, push button start, a ventilated driver’s seat, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. The tentative EPA numbers are said will exceed the prior model which had 22-to-26 mpg in the city and 32-to-36 mpg on the highway. The approximate pricing on the LX model will start under $16,000 and the EX under $18,000.
