Father And Son Gift Ideas
I have two guys in my life, and I am looking for father and son Christmas gift ideas.  Henry loves his daddy and wants to be just like him.  When my husband was working for Pepsi, Henry would put on Chris’ work shirts and walk through the house saying “I am the daddy and I work at Pepsi”.  Very cute!!  Since then, Chris tries to get t-shirt and hats that he gets from work so he and Henry can dress like his dad.  This year I decided to try to find something they would both enjoy.  Here are some really neat ideas I found:

  • Pajamas: This is a great gift for the men in your life.  There are so many options in this category that there is sure to be something everyone could use.  You can get pajama bottoms that match exactly, or you can choose the same pattern with different colors and so on and so on.  Like I said..there are a ton of possibilities for this one.
  •  Hats: Be it a baseball cap with your husband and son’s favorite sports team or a favorite saying, this is a fun choice.  If you can’t find the hat you want, you can always have one made.  How cool would it be to have matching hats with the family name of phrase that the two share between themselves?
  •  Kitchen Items: My husband loves to cook and as Henry wants to emulate his dad, he loves to help in the kitchen.  What better gift to give the big chef and little chef than a personalized apron for each?  If your son is older, a father and son matching coffee mug would be a good pick.  I saw a cute idea where the two mugs had their picture and each drank from the mug with the other’s picture on it.
  •  Belts and Wallets: I love this idea because it is a really great idea and it is something they will use on a daily basis.  What guy doesn’t need a good wallet to carry and a belt to tie their look together?  Recently I was introduced to one of the most novel ideas I have seen.  Gallo en Fuego, which means “rooster on fire” in Spanish, which is perfect since the products they carry are made from retired fire hoses!  Talk about recycling!  What a fantastic and unique concept, don’t you agree?

If I can find accessories made from unusual materials, I am thrilled!  In my experience, if I give a gift that is different from your normal tie or slippers gift, I know the recipient will know I spent some time choosing it.  When I read about Gallo en Fuego, I was so intrigued and knew I had to have some of their products.  The products are designed by a very talented woman by the name of Lori Holliday (please see my review of her diaper bag from 2 Red Hens), who happens to be married to a fireman!  Lori has taken the hoses that are no longer usable and made them into a one of a kind accessory.  I think it is so cool to know my husband and son can own an accessory that is made from a hose that was used to save lives?  To add an extra amount of strength and durability, the belts have the original rubber that once lined the fire hose.  I did want to add an important foot note to the Gallo en Fuego story and that is that a portion of the proceeds from each sale goes to the National Fallen Firefighter’s Association, which helps the families of those men who sacrificed their lives while saving others.  We received the Fireman’s Hose Belt ($38.00) and the Men’s Gallo En Fuego American Flag T Shirt ($34.00).  I am not one who is usually at a loss for words, but in trying to convey how incredible the belt is, I am stuck.  This is by far one of the most unique and great looking items I have ever had.
