Millions of people nationwide suffer from bad breath, which is an embarrassment at the minimum and a sign of a serious health condition at its worst. If you are one of those dealing with this issue, here are some ways to work on having fresher breath, thus leading to more confidence and better health overall.

  1. Visit Your Dentist Regularly: One of the most overlooked actions you can take in order to combat bad breath is to see your dental professional on the recommended basis – usually two times a year but possibly more if you are particularly susceptible to tarter buildup. Your dentist will examine your teeth and mouth for any complications such as gum disease and/or open cavities that are common causes of this problem.
  2. Eat Yoghurt and Other Helpful Foods: Certain foods can assist you in improving your mouth odor. One of these is yogurt, which encourages the growth of good bacteria in your gut and therefore promotes healthier conditions in your mouth. You can also try:
    1. Parsley, which has anti-fungal and antibacterial properties
    2. Mint, dill, basil, and cilantro which emit scented essential oils when crushed or chewed
    3. Green tea, which boasts antibacterial compounds that counteract mouth germs
    4. Fruits that are high in vitamin C such as citrus fruits, berries and melons, as this nutrient kills germs
  3. Limit Consumption of Certain Foods: Garlic and onions are bad breath offenders that most people are aware of, but there are other foods that you may be more surprised to know can affect your mouth odor. Meat is one of these items, as the elements it contains are particularly attractive to reproductive bacteria and known for lingering, getting lodged between teeth, collecting at your gum-line, and even working their way beneath your fillings or crowns. Adhering to a low carb diet can also work against your fresh breath efforts, as this can lead to ketosis – a condition that causes bad breath.
  4. Be Diligent About Brushing and Flossing: Don’t forget about the fundamentals of mouth care – brush twice a day and floss once. Be sure to brush your tongue as well – especially the back of it – as its rough surface is especially attractive to food debris, bacteria, dead cells and other material that can contribute to foul smelling odors.
  5. Drink Lots of Water: If you’re dehydrated you will often get dry mouth, a common origin of this condition. Make sure you consume lots of water during the day and rinse your mouth with plain water after eating in order to get rid of leftover food particles that can otherwise lead to foul smells.

In my family, this is important to me because I was antibiotics for SIX weeks from a cat bite. Ouch…and holy no helpful bacteria anymore. I started to get sore throats, earaches, and When I went to the dentist it was so super tender I had to cancel. After using TheraBreath my sore throat and ear ache are gone and I had a successful cleaning appointment at the dentist! No cavities!
