Trendy Cosmetics For Women
It seems to be the rave these days to wear trendy cosmetics for women. In the past, I was the foundation, little blush and some mascara kind of girl. Lately, my oldest daughter has been nagging me to update my makeup bag. Apparently the bright colors we wore in the 70’s and 80’s are back in style, so I am having a makeup flashback when looking at some of the new cosmetics. You can look sweet and innocent or you can look like a scary Gothic vampire (which is fine, it just isn’t for me!!). My younger daughter is almost 14 and has been asking about wearing makeup, but I am on the fence about that.
So my Chelsea told me about a really cool cosmetic line named Hard Candy. Hard Candy was started in 1995 by a pair of sisters, Dineh and Pooneh Mohajer and their friend Benjamin Einstein. The company got its start in a really fun way. Dineh had a pair of sky blue sandals and wanted nail polish to match, so she created her own! Shortly after, the actress Alicia Silverstone was wearing the polish and when the host asked what the color was, she said “Sky by Hard Candy” and within 18 months, the company had 10 million (yes, million) in sales. Ever since, the company has been producing cool, trendy and beautiful cosmetics with a little bit of edginess mixed in!
Cool Makeup Looks
When I was offered to review a few products from the Hard Candy line, I couldn’t wait to create some cool makeup looks. The trio of products which are packaged in the absolute coolest packaging, included their Ginormous Lash Volumizing Mascara $6.00), Fat Pout Lip Gloss ($6.00) and Kal-eye-descope – Baked Eye shadow Duos ($6.00). The mascara is my favorite because it really does give you thicker lashes. I have really sparse and thin eyelashes, and I have always had a hard time finding good mascara. The lip gloss is really pretty and it does plump up your lips and the eye shadow has a hint of glitter/sheen to it and it catches the light and makes your eyes sparkle. Now that you can find Hard Candy exclusively at your local Wal-Mart store or at Wal-Mart online at completely reasonable prices, you can’t ask for a better make-up at such a great price.
One reader will win the 3-piece kit in the review, in the winner’s choice of colors ($18.00) from Hard Candy
