I am a three-time mom. My oldest will be twenty-years-old this month, so you would think I would not panic when my youngest gets a high fever. I have experience, yet I still worry and often find myself calling the pediatrician to ask, “When Do You Take Your Child To The Hospital With A Fever?” I know when ever I touch Mason and he feels like he is going to spontaneously combust into flames, I freak out! He is my baby and no baby should be that hot! I know not to administer meds (ibuprofen or Tylenol until the fever is at 101 because the child needs the heat to fight off the infection. That means I am always taking his temp like a crazy person!
When Do You Take Your Child To The Hospital With A Fever
- Basically, you should think about taking your child to the hospital if he has a fever of 102.2 degrees Fahrenheit or higher AND it has not lowered after an hour of home treatment.
- Before you take your child to the ER, check with your pediatrician. Mine tells me to apply home remedies like a tepid bath and cool cloths on pulse points.
- Make sure you are using a quality, accurate thermometer like the Exergen Temporal Scanner. I have gone through several thermometers recently because they were all not recording right. I knew my son was burning up, but it kept reading at 97.6. Turns out, the thermometer was broken! I needed an easy to use thermometer for my child.
Easy To Use Thermometer
With squirmy children who refuse medicine an easy to use thermometer is important. No one likes to see their baby sick with a runny nose and earache, which makes the parent want to take care of them even more so. Kids are usually reluctant to take anything that will make them feel better (even with airplane noises added). Just taking their temperature can be the start World War III. This must sound all too familiar to any parent that has ever had a sick child. But, this can all be avoided by one exciting new product. A company called Exergen Corporation has created an amazing thermometer called Exergen Temporal Scanner, which has recently been seen on the Today Show and Grey’s Anatomy.
The infrared thermometer that captures temperature by scanning the heat that comes off the forehead (via the temporal artery). This non-invasive and easy-to-use thermometer works great for all of those stubborn little kiddies. The best part of it all is that it only takes two seconds to get an extremely accurate reading by swiping it across the forehead. This will even allow parents to check their child’s temperature while they are far off to sleep leaving less room to fuss and more time for some tender love and care. It is easy to see why the Exergen Temporal Scanner is used by all the top medical facilities in the country.
Exergen Corporation is a recognized world leader in industrial and medical non-invasive temperature technology.
