Trash can

This trash can saved my marriage. No seriously, I was about to have a down right hissy fit with the constant mess that was always on the porch. I mean how hard is it to throw away a can of soda when you are finished with it? Granted you had to walk the 20 feet into the house to do it, but you had to walk that far to get the soda right? Kitchen garbage cans are created to be so convenient, especially if your hands are full.  You can more than likely step on a foot pedal to open the lid, making it a hands free lid.  But what about all that outside bulk item garbage.  Most outdoor garbage cans are not hands free, making it difficult if you have your hands full of items.  The last thing you want to do is to put everything down in your arms open the garbage can and then pick up all that junk again. When you place it 12 inches from the person who makes the most trash, it makes it even more convenient.

Who Knew A Trash Can Could Make Me So Happy!

Simple Human, does actually make things easy for us humans.  They have an outdoor trash can called the Rectangular Step Can that is designed to open and close hands-free so you can throw bulky items away without having to set it down first.  This Step Can is available in two colors and two sizes.  You can get it in either grey or black, in 45 liters (almost 12.5 gallons) or 60 liters (which is almost 16 gallons).  However, the 60-liter step can is their recycler.

Their 45 liter rectangular step can has a wide opening and is large capacity so that you can get those bulky items in there and close the lid.  The pedal is very sturdy and durable, making it designed to last.  Their silent close lid uses patented shox technology that controls the motion of the lid for a slow, silent close.  This step can also has a a slide lock on it that securely locks the lid to help keep pets and curious children from getting into the trash.

The company SimpleHuman was established in the year 2000 by UCLA alumnus Frank Yang.  He started initially with the redesign of the common kitchen trashcan and then expanded from there.  SimpleHuman’s goal as a company is to bring to us consumers items that will make day-to-day life easier by finding solutions to simple overlooked problems.

You can find SimpleHuman at Bed Bath & Beyond, Target and The Container Store.  The 45-liter Rectangular Step Can retails for $45.00.
