Ceramic Non Stick Cookware

I love to cook, but I have lots of pots and pans, so I wasn’t quite sure that there was anything to get too excited about when I received the Xtrema 10 inch ceramic skillet on my doorstep.  Let’s be honest – I’m a complete snob when it comes to kitchen hardware, so I really thought that I already owned the best and had no intention of replacing any of it.  Boy, was I wrong!

Ceramic Non Stick Cookware

Since Xtrema can withstand extremely high temperatures and is highly durable, it can be used on the stovetop, in the oven, in the microwave (no metal), under the broiler, in the freezer, on the grill, or even on your dining room table!  Also, because it holds heat so well, it cooks food faster, and food stays hotter longer!  It’s also non-stick, but it uses a non-scratch, non-toxic ceramic glaze that will NEVER scratch off like some other non-stick pans – not even with metal utensils or steel wool!  Plus, it’s 100% green cookware, so you know it’s healthier for your family, and good for the earth!

The first time I tried it, it worked well, but I just made a stir fry on the stovetop, so I didn’t feel that it was anything too special.  Then, I decided to try something that I had to start on the stovetop and finish in the oven, because none of my other cookware does that.  I decided to make baked pork chops.  Now normally, I sear them in a normal skillet on the stovetop, then transfer to a glass casserole dish that I’ve lost the lid for, and then bake it in the oven with a sheet pan underneath it because it always overflows.  With my Xtrema skillet, I seared my pork chops on the stovetop, then removed the silicone handle cover (to be used on the stovetop to prevent you from burning your hand), and tossed my gravy on and popped it in the oven with it’s lid!  I was amazed by how quickly the pan got hot and seared my meat.  The lid fit very nice and it didn’t overflow!  What normally would have taken me three dishes to make, I was able to do it all in my Xtrema skillet!  I will admit, it’s very heavy, but once I saw how that heaviness really worked to my advantage and held in the heat, I didn’t mind it so much!

Now, Xtrema sells everything from tea sets to steamer sets, saucepans, skillets, baking pans, food storage sets, and even utensil sets.  The 3 piece 10″ skillet (skillet, cover, and silicone handle holder) that I tried retails on their website for $134.99.  Now, I know that’s higher than many cookware products that you can run to your local department store and purchase.  Let me reassure you, however, that it is WELL worth the extra money.  This is cookware that will last you a lifetime and that you’ll be able to hand down to your kids when they get their first apartment (if you can bear to part with it).  If you feel like starting with just one item, I would say that the 3 piece 10″ skillet set is probably the best all-around useful one to try.  Now I CAN’T WAIT until I can throw the rest of my cookware out the window, and replace it all with Xtrema!
